While Winterthur might not be the Mekka of innovative cuisine, there are a few good restaurants which are worthwhile a try. Akazie is located in the center of Winterthur. The small restaurant can host approximately 25 guests.
Ambiance
The rustic restaurant emanates a classic and down to earth “Beiz” like atmosphere. On a Saturday at lunch time the restaurant is moderately busy.
Menu
Azakzie offers innovative and playful cuisine. The menu changes regularly and includes a good choice of seasonal, fresh dishes. There are also a few steady classics. The Swabian noodles with mushrooms are very good, the Spaghetti Aglio & Olio ( a regular classic) are excellent and probably the best you will find in Winterthur. There is a reasonable choice of wines by the glass and we opt for a Fitou.
Conclusion
All in all, Akazie is a good choice for a post- shopping lunch in Winterthur. The service is attentive and quick except for the owner, a strange lady who puts on a long face and seems to be on a mission to drive away guests. Other than that, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
