Restaurant & Bar 16 – Gstaad/Saanen

sdfsd                16

Opened by the owners of Wasserngrat, Gstaad’s most popular mountain restaurants, 16 is tucked away in a small alley in Saanen’s cute village center at Mittelgasse 16 and has opened 2 years ago. It is still a local secret tip. In the winter it attracts Gstaad’s elite crowd.

Atmosphere:

16, the name derives from its address however this is the only aspect of this charming restaurant which lacks imagination. The old farmhouse which hosts the restaurant has been beautifully refurbished. The restaurant’s stone walls and rustic interior design imminently create a feel-good atmosphere. Everything emanates stylish understatement.

Menu: The menu changes daily and offers 3 starters, 4-5 main courses and 2 options for desert.

The choice might be small but offers seasonal, fresh ingredients. The lamb salad with veal Carpaccio is fresh and aromatic but could have been a tad spicier. The winter salad is well seasoned. The menu offers a good selection of meat and fish which are prepared on a grill. You can watch your main course getting prepared on the grill from the restaurant’s bar. The pasta with truffle sauce (straightforward and delicious) can be ordered with white or black truffle (more franc savvy).

Service: Guests are welcomed cordially be the service team. Staff is attentive and personal. Unfortunately the restaurant does not accept credit cards and sends those who lack the cash out in the cold to the next ATM. We hope this is only temporary, after all this is the 21st century!

Conclusion: This gem in Gstaad’s trendy culinary scene is a real find.
