Restaurant Review Engiadina, Scuol

Tucked away in the lower part Scuol “Engiadina” is located near Gabriel hotel.

The ambiance: A culinary gem in Scuol’s center the Hotel Engadiana features two über-cozy wooden “Stüblis” which emanate the typical, rustic Engadine charme. One of the dining rooms hosts a stove which adds to the cozyness.

The menu: The restaurant offers a 3 or 4 course menu at a very reasonable price. In addition, there is an a la carte menu which includes Engadin classics such as Barley Broth, Capuns and Pizzokels. What surprises, is the complete absence of a fish main course. The cuisine is traditional and rustic with a seasonal touch. We opt for a 3 course menu which includes a bouillon with a ricotta ravioli and lamb’s lettuce with egg. Both is well prepared. For a main course we choose the Entrecote with vegetables which is ok however the meat could have been a bit more tender.

For desert, the menu includes a fruit salad with melon sorbet which brings our dinner to a sweet and vitamin rich end.

Conclusion: As the name suggests the “Engiadina” offers healthy Engadin food. Don’t expect culinary revelations. Nevertheless, everything is prepared with love and attention to detail and the service is friendly and attentive. This is a good alternative to Astras although the servings are significantly smaller. We will return!
