What better way to get into the festive mood than by dressing up and visiting the Nutcracker ballet.
Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker at Kongresshouse presented a magical ballet in two acts. The show was initially presented in 1892 and has become a Christmas classic ever since. It tells the story of Clare who is given a nutcracker at Christmas Eve. The nutcracker comes alive when Clare falls asleep and has to fight a mouse army. Clare and the Nutcracker then venture through a magical journey of snow forests and the land of sweets and finally meet the Sugar Plum Fairy who throws a lavish party for them.
Unfortunately a life orchestra was missing which was lamented by some visitors. Nevertheless, the show was colorful and enchanting at the same time. The ballet performed very well and the costumes were imaginative with fine detail.
End the evening with a nightcap at Barflyz which is just around the corner from Congresshouse.
